Overview
The CHC24015 Certificate II in Active Volunteering is designed for students who are looking at employability skills across various vocational sectors with the inclusion of volunteering activities. The certificate prepares students for volunteering and work readiness.

Effective communication methods in the workplace

Standard Duration: 1 year (typically 39 weeks)
Extended Duration: 18 months (typically 63 weeks)
The extended duration is available for student cohorts that may present with barriers to learning, or identify as being neurodivergent. This extension allows for sufficient time for instruction, practice and feedback, prior to assessment.
Job Roles
This qualification may be used as a pathway for workforce entry.
Organisations may require volunteers to undergo relevant background checks.

Delivery Mode
Academy Training & Assessment partners with community organisations to deliver this qualification face to face with qualified trainers who have worked in the volunteering sector.

Academy Training & Assessment also offer this course through an auspice arrangement with secondary schools and colleges.
​
Teachers deliver this accredited course to secondary school students as part of their VET studies with Academy Training & Assessment responsible for enrolment, registration and certification.
Assessment
Assessment may consist of:

Knowledge questions for student to answer

Community-based activities observed by the trainer

Holistic /formative assessment

Academy Training & Assessment offer both online Learner Management System (LMS) and hard copy resources. This choice is to offer as much flexibility for the school, teacher and student.

Documents/work instructions (such as volunteering procedures)

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 20 hours of volunteer work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the CHCVOL001 Be an effective volunteer unit of competency.
Entry Requirements
Students must be willing and able to engage with external community-based organisations as part of their volunteering requirements.

All students will engage in a language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) activity to evaluate potential support requirements.
This is emailed to all students prior to enrolment and must be completed before access to their online Enrolment Form.

Fees and Subsidies
This qualification is offered to secondary schools on a fee for service basis via an auspice arrangement.

There are two fees:
1. Student enrolment, registration and certification
2. VET Materials (the learning and assessment resources, per unit)
