CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services

Overview

The CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services can provide you with the basic and entry-level skills and knowledge required to gain employment as a community services worker or pathway into the Certificate III, which is often a benchmark into employment.

The work provides a first point of contact and assists individuals in meeting their immediate needs, under direct supervision.

​

Your training will have a broad-based focus, with an accent on:​

  • Providing a first point of contact

  • Workplace health and safety knowledge

  • Communicating with various community service organisations

  • Organising and completing daily work activities

  • Working with diverse communities

  • Providing First Aid

  • How to manage personal stress in the workplace

​

Graduates of this nationally accredited Certificate II can move into roles where they provide a first point of contact and/or directly assist individuals in meeting their immediate needs. At this level, work takes place under direct, regular supervision with clearly defined guidelines.

Standard Duration: 1 year (typically 39 weeks)

Extended Duration: 18 months (typically 63 weeks)
The extended duration is available for student cohorts that may present with barriers to learning, or identify as being neurodivergent. This extension allows for sufficient time for instruction, practice and feedback, prior to assessment.

Delivery Mode

Academy Training & Assessment delivers this qualification face to face with qualified trainers who have worked in the health and community services sector.

Academy Training & Assessment can also offer this course through an auspice arrangement with secondary schools and colleges. 

​

Teachers deliver this accredited course to secondary school students as part of their VET studies with Academy Training & Assessment responsible for enrolment, registration and certification.

Assessment

Assessment may consist of:

  • Knowledge questions for student to answer 

  • Role plays and practical activities

  • Holistic assessment

​

Evidence may be:

  • Written (using student workbooks or an LMS portal)

  • Audio/video recordings

  • Direct observation

  • Interview

  • Documents/work instructions

Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course.

​

All students will engage in a language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) activity to evaluate potential support requirements. This will be emailed to each student and must be completed online prior to receiving the online Enrolment Form link.

Units

The CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services consists of 9 units:

  • 5 core units

  • 4 electives

Fees and Subsidies

This qualification is offered to secondary schools on a fee for service basis via an auspice arrangement.

​

There are two fees:

1. Student enrolment, registration and certification
2. VET Materials (the learning and assessment resources, per unit)
